I mostly give 4-H, beginners and intermediate horse lesson. I teach all ages. Children that start need to be five years old. Preferably 6. This is for the safety of your child. But I also teach adults as well.

Here are somethings I need to have before a child can start riding:

• Muscle strength to hold the proper position in the saddle

• The ability to understand instructions and follow directions ( Lefts and Rights, etc. ) 

• Sufficient attention span for instruction

• Neck muscles strong enough to support a fitted, secured certified protective helmet

• I have to provide tack and saddles that fit the child as well as the horse

I mostly give western lessons but also contesting and english. For my lessons I would meet you at my barn ( 596 N 800 W Delphi Indiana 46923) or the Carroll County fairgrounds (102 S 4th St, Flora, IN 46929, USA ) with your horse or I can provide one.  To using one of my horses it will be an additional fee. I have two types of lesson. “Pony Ride” and normal lessons. For the “pony rides” they are about 30 min of riding. (15 min grooming saddling time as well) These are great for smaller / younger children / or people new to riding and getting started. These “Pony Ride” are on a normal size horse. I will be right beside the rider and walk with them. My normal lessons are about 1 hour long. Boots( or closed toed shoes without tread), long pants and helmet required any of my lessons. I will also have a liability form that each rider will need filled out each year. For anyone using my horses I can provide a helmet for the first couple lessons. But if lessons they end up liking it I suggest that they get their own helmet. Helmets must be ASTM or SEI standard F1163 (or above) certified equestrian helmets. Bicycle helmets are not allowed and are not rated high enough. I suggest doing a “pony ride” or private lessons to get started and I can evaluate the rider.

Here are my rates :

Lessons:

• $35 per private lesson

• $150 for 5 private lesson ($175 if you are using one of my horses)

• $15 per group lesson 

For horse use: (added on to full lessons)

• Additional $5 for using one of my horses

• Additional $10 for hauling my horse to the fairground. 

Pony rides (typically ages 12 and under):

• $25 for 30 ish minutes (no additional hauling or horse use fees)

• Small Package - $100 for 5 pony ride lessons (no additional hauling or horse use fees)

• Large Package - $170 for 10 pony ride lessons (no additional hauling or horse use fees)
