So, while horse riding helmets can seem like a bit of an investment, it’s one that is completely worth it. Use our list below to help you narrow down the options when it comes to horse riding helmets for kids and beginners.
To fit an equestrian riding helmet, you should
Place the helmet on your head.
If it is wobbly or uncomfortably tight, try a new size.
If it seems okay, tighten the fitting mechanism, if applicable, and the chin strap.
Make sure the helmet isn’t tilted. The brim should be about an inch above your eyebrows and level across.
You should feel even pressure around the circumference of your head.
You may need to try several different helmets from different manufacturers to find the perfect fit.
Some helmets are designed to fit more of an oval shaped head, while others provide a better fit for round shapes.
The helmet should have about the same amount of pressure all round.
Some helmets have to “settle.”
Helmets are required for everyone 18 years and younger.

I suggest helmets with a dial fit or sure fit system. This will help keep the helmet fitting as the rider grows or changes hairstyles. HOWEVER, all helmets must be ASTM/SEI-certified.
