Rider clothing requirements
Helmets MUST be worn everyone 18 and under. Helmets are highly recommended on all riders. Helmets must be ASTM or SEI standard F1163 (or above) certified equestrian helmets. Bicycle helmets are not allowed and are not rated high enough. Riders can borrow a helmet for one or two lessons but if the rider would like to continue, they should invest in their own helmet.
Boots - Cowboy boots, paddock boots (or closed toed shoes without tread)
Shoes such as sandals or athletic shoes are not appropriate for riders.
Shoes should cover the ankle to prevent the stirrup from rubbing and should ALWAYS have a heel to help prevent the foot from going too far in the stirrup.
NEVER wear open toed shoes of any kind in the barn or around horses. Closed toed are a must. (Including friends, family and other guest.)
No treads
Long pants - Preferably boot cut jeans when riding western or breaches when riding English.
Reminder:
When it is colder, please make sure your rider is in appropriate clothing. If it is cold, please make sure your child has enough layers, but they are still able to function. Coat, vest (are very nice to allow warmth but still give use of arms), warm socks (possibly wool socks thin enough to put in boot), gloves (that they can still hold the reins with), a thin hat or headband (they can still put a helmet over) etc. If you believe it will be too cold for your child a 12-hour cancellation notice is required.
When it is warmer please make sure your rider is in appropriate clothing. Bring water for your child so they can hydrate when need be. If you believe it will be too hot for your child a 12 hour cancellation notice is required. They still need to be wearing long pants no matter the temperature.
Guest clothing requirement
Parent, guardians, siblings and guest in our barn MUST wear clothes toed shoes when being on our property, near our horses and at our facility. Please do not wear open toed shoes.
