Desktop Pets ("we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information our application stores, what it optionally collects, and how that information is used.
Desktop Pets stores the following data locally on your device only:
App settings and pet data: Your pets, their names, stats, and preferences are saved locally to your device (LocalAppData) so your progress is preserved between sessions.
Screen size: Used to position pets correctly on your display.
License status: Whether you have upgraded to Pro is cached locally to avoid unnecessary Store queries.
This data never leaves your device and is not shared with anyone.
To understand how the app is used and prioritize improvements, Desktop Pets can send anonymous usage data to our analytics service. This is off by default. We ask for your permission on first launch, and it is only enabled if you agree. You can turn it on or off at any time in Settings → Other → Anonymous usage data.
When enabled, we collect:
A random identifier generated on your device. It is not linked to your name, email, Microsoft account, or any other identity, and is stored locally so repeat sessions can be counted.
Anonymous product events, such as which species and personalities are created, which pages and features are used, tray button customizations (icon, color, position), and steps in the Pro upgrade and trial flow.
When enabled, we do NOT collect:
Any personal or contact information.
The contents of your files, screen, clipboard, keystrokes, or any other application.
Your location or any precise device identifier.
This data is transmitted over the internet to our analytics backend (Prism, hosted at prism.brksfrb.com) and is used solely to maintain and improve Desktop Pets. We do not sell it or share it with advertisers or other third parties. Your consent is stored locally; withdrawing it (via the Settings toggle) stops all further collection immediately.
Desktop Pets is intended for a general audience and has no age restrictions. We do not collect personal information from any user, including children. The optional usage analytics described above are anonymous, contain no personal or identifying information, and are disabled unless explicitly enabled.
We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted here with a revised "Last updated" date.
