Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind (USDB)
The mission of Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind (USDB) is to educate students who are Deaf, Blind, or Deafblind and to provide resources and enrichment activities for them and for their families so they can achieve their full academic, social and career potential. In mainstream schools, deaf children may not have access to all the support, resources and language necessary to receive a full education. USDB provides the necessities to alleviate this societal issue. In these schools, children can receive a proper language foundation and have the opportunity for growth and development, as explored in the Community Engaged Learning and Research conducted above. After researching more about these schools online, I think it would be a special opportunity to be involved with this organization. It would be neat to see that the deaf children's needs are being met in an environment that is tailor made for them. I would be happy to see how Deaf children matter and that their unique potential is being realized and nurtured. I would hope to be a part of the nurturing process and learn from the Deaf children in turn.Â
