When auditions are announced begin preparing requested material. If possible read the play.
Provide a headshot and a resume for your audition.
Dress and act professionally. This is a job interview. Don't let your emotional preparation or other ideas about "being in character" make you act unprofessionally.
If cast, read the script multiple times.
Have script analysis completed before the first rehearsal.
Come to each rehearsal early, with ideas.
Warm up before each rehearsal and performance.
Have each scene memorized after the first blocking rehearsal.
Have blocking memorized after the first blocking rehearsal.
Keep a journal during the rehearsal process where you write down all notes from the director, your own notes. Also, use the journal as a way to explore the life of your character.
Come to all costume fittings, tech, dress rehearsals, and performances early, prepared and conduct yourself professionally.

Scenic Designer, Lighting Designer, Costume Designer, Sound Designer and Assistantships
Semester Before Production
Submit written request to the Chair of Theatre, including a resume if interested in designing or assisting, the semester
before the production.
Read the play (if possible) or familiarize yourself with the subject matter or concept. Come to first interview with ideas.
If selected read the play multiple times
Research, brainstorm, begin developing a design vision
Two Months Before Rehearsals Begin
Begin meeting with the director and discuss the director's vision, and share your ideas. Begin the process of collaboration, a meeting of the minds.
Visual research, vision boards, sketches, models, mock ups etc. should be provided to the director throughout the process.
Rehearsals Begin
First rehearsal. Design team presents the world of the play to the cast.
Weekly production meetings begin to discuss the progress of the production: fittings, build, hang, focus Tech schedule, problems, adjustment etc.
Stage Manager or Assistant Stage Manager
Semester Before Production
Submit written request to the Program Coordinator including a resume the semester before the production.
Read the play (if possible) or familiarize yourself with the subject matter or concept.
Two Months Before Rehearsals Begin
Begin creating paperwork for the production. Schedule, rehearsal report templates, Master Production Templates with design information, Cue Sheet template, prop list.
Help coordinate, schedule, and attend design meeting with the design team.
Individual meetings with the director first, and then team meetings following that initial individaul meeting.
Obtain ground plan from Set designer, and use to prepare blocking notation.
Rehearsals Begin
Attend all rehearsals.
Set up the space for the work of the day.
Take notes and submit rehearsal report to production team, Theatre Chair, Tech Director, and Director.
Notate blocking
Help coordinate and plan weekly production meetings to discuss the progress of the production: fittings, build, hang, focus Tech schedule, problems, adjustment etc.
Be the hub of communication, and organization for all costume fittings, build, hang, focus, and prop acquisition.
Create Tech schedule
Tech, Dress, and Run of Show
Create a sign in sheet
Lead safety tour and oversee any fight calls at top of the day.
Coordinate the progress of work and the needs of the director and designers.
Work with designers, director, and board operators to learn how to effectively call the show.
Communicate clearly and effectively the progress of the day to actors, director, and design team.
