Parties are parent-driven and not teacher-driven. Room Parents are responsible for coordinating and staffing the classroom parties.
Prior to the Party:
All volunteer opportunities for your classroom are available online. In order to see who has signed up, you will sign into Membership Toolkit and click on the hyperlink for class activities.
Ensure all party slots are filled. About a month before, please reach out to your classroom and make sure they are aware of how to sign up to participate in the party.
Reach out to your teacher to see if they have any input, special requests or questions. Also, discuss when would be a good time to arrive and set up for the party (typically 15 minutes prior)
Closer to the party, send a reminder to those who have signed up.
Obtain any directions to crafts/activities if those parents will not be present and ensure there are no duplicate activities.
During the Party:
Parent Volunteers: These are the parents who attend the party and ensure that the event runs smoothly. These individuals may or may not be the Room Parents. Per school guidelines, parents should leave siblings (non-Bristol students) at home during the party. (Note: Room Parents do not need to sign up. You may attend as well and not count in the 4 sign ups)
Game/Craft Volunteers: These are the parents who provide the entertainment for the party.
See the Classroom Parties Page for ideas. Pinterest is a great resource for games and crafts. Your teacher is also another great resource and they can share what has worked well in the past and what might work well with the current class.
It is good idea to have 3-4 activities planned for the party. You will want to decide beforehand if the activities will be done as a class or if you will break the class into smaller groups. These do not need to be elaborate activities by any means. You will have about 60 minutes for the party.
Of note, many of the parents who are providing the activities are not the parents who are attending the party, and will need to send instructions prior to or on the day of the party.
Snacks and Drink Volunteers: These are the parents who provide the snacks for the classroom. Due to allergies, all snacks must be store-bought, still in the package, and be peanut/nut-free (even if your classroom does not have a peanut/nut allergy.)
If you have a child in your classroom with an allergy, the parent of the child with an allergy must approve the snacks. We will send the information for the allergy to you in a separate email. If the snacks are not approved by the allergy family or school nurse, we can not allow the snacks on the day of the party.
