Here are some links to after-school activities and other resources suggested by Bringhurst parents. If you know of any additional resources that should be added to the list, please email us at bringhurstpto@gmail.com. Thanks!
(Please note: These programs are not officially endorsed by Bringhurst Elementary or the PTO. This list is provided by and for parents as a helpful resource.)

Why are there two parent groups at Bringhurst PTO & CIPCF? What’s the difference?
A: The Bringhurst PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) includes Bringhurst admin, teachers, and families, encompassing both English-only and MIP (Mandarin Immersion Program) families. The PTO is the main point of contact for Bringhurst Elementary events, collaboration with teachers, and funding for school needs.
CIPCF (Chinese Immersion Parents' Council of Fremont) is the parent organization specifically for MIP students, which spans two schools: Bringhurst Elementary and Hopkins Junior High. CIPCF supports resources for MIP students, such as textbooks, audio resources, personnel support, and other needs unique to the Mandarin Immersion classrooms that are not typically covered by FUSD district funds.
However, since we are all part of the same team, the PTO and CIPCF work together to support all Bringhurst Elementary students and ensure an enriching, cross-cultural experience for everyone. We understand that MIP parents are involved with two different parent organizations, but there’s no need to choose one over the other. We’re all here to support you, your students, and the teachers at Bringhurst.
I want to get connected--where/how do I do that?
A: We have three main ways to connect:
PTO/CIPCF Zoom Meetings: Every 3rd Tuesday (PTO at 6pm and CIPCF at 7pm)
We encourage all PTO and CIPCF parents to join WhatsApp, as it’s the most accessible for most people. While you may have other preferred messaging apps (WeChat, Line, FB Messenger, etc.), WhatsApp is widely used and helps keep everyone informed. If you’d like to stay updated, please download WhatsApp and join our group!
If you’re interested in volunteering as a Room Parent, please reach out to your child’s teacher. Room Parents act as the main point of contact between the teacher and other parents, especially for school events. It’s a great way to support your student, meet other parents, and build a closer connection with the teacher. The role is fairly flexible—just stay in touch with the teacher and inform parents about announcements. If possible, attending PTO and CIPCF meetings is helpful; otherwise, you'll receive notifications via WhatsApp.
What websites, logins, apps, and communication platforms do I need to register for, and how do I do that?
A: There are several websites and portals to keep track of! Here’s a guide:
Aries Portal: Sign in to view your kids' classes and complete registration/forms for FUSD.
Illuminate Portal: For online report cards. To register, email Ms. Sanchez at psanchez@fusdk12.net or Ms. Pulido at dpulido@fusdk12.net to receive a unique login and password.
ParentSquare: This is where newsletters from the Principal are delivered to parents.
What clubs are offered at Bringhurst? When do they meet? How can my kid join?
A: Check out our clubs HERE! For more details on meeting times and how to join, reach out to the parent host of the club.
I’m a teacher or parent interested in hosting a student club. How do I get support from the PTO?
A: Contact our club coordinator to learn about how we can work together to enrich the educational experience for all students.
How do I learn more about setting up a trip (e.g: Science Camp)?
A: For information on trips, visit the School District’s website: BoardDocs. Search for "Camp" and select 6153 and 6153 AR for details on Study/Field Trips/Excursions/Athletics. 6153 includes information on Non-School Sponsored (Private) Trips.
Tell me more about drop off in the morning--I’m stressing out!
A: Morning drop-off can be stressful at first, but it becomes smoother once you get used to it. Please pull into the drop-off circle. Do not get out of your car to unbuckle your child—either they can unbuckle themselves, or an attendant (usually a teacher) will assist. Once the attendant or your child closes the car door, please drive off. There is no parking in the Bringhurst parking lot. If you wish to walk your child onto campus, please park at the Lila Bringhurst Community Park or use public parking spots along the main roads.
I need to excuse my kids’ absence-how do I do that?
A: Call the school office at (510) 490-1205 and leave a message, or email attendance clerk at dpulido@fusdk12.net.
I’d like to provide suggestions or feedback about facilities, parent concerns, or administrative help. Can the PTO facilitate this?
A: We encourage you to voice concerns about facilities and school-wide issues at PTO meetings or email the admin directly. If you need guidance on raising concerns with a teacher or asking for help from admin, or if you need support with personal concerns (e.g., IEP/504, testing questions), reach out through the WhatsApp Parent Group or the PTO Facebook Group. Many parents have likely faced similar situations and are more than willing to help!
I’d like to provide suggestions or feedback to an outside vendor who works for the school. Can the PTO facilitate this?
A: Unfortunately, we cannot assist with feedback for outside vendors. Please reach out to the vendor directly.
What's the difference between donating to the school vs. to the PTO?
A: When you donate to the PTO, you can share your ideas and vote on how your donation is used for the school, specific grades/subjects, and classrooms. Donations made directly to the school are managed by the school and used for general purposes.
Will I get a receipt for my donation?
A: Donations made online—preferably through Zelle (to avoid fees charged by PayPal)—should have proof of payment with the online records. Always include the Bringhurst PTO EIN, 88-3780031. If you donate items, cash, or by check, please email your name, donation amount, and check number (if applicable) to the Bringhurst PTO Treasurer. We will provide a receipt once the donation is processed.
My company has a corporate matching gift program. How do I donate to the PTO through this option?
A: We’re thrilled you’re considering matching your donation! When you’re ready, just provide proof of your donation and our PTO EIN, 88-3780031, to your company. If Bringhurst PTO isn’t in your employer’s program yet, or if you need any help, please feel free to contact us!
