OUR APPROACH
✔ Prevention and early intervention
We aim to support young people before difficulties become more significant, helping them develop wellbeing, confidence and life skills through everyday opportunities.
✔ Meeting young people where they are
We recognise that every young person communicates, learns and experiences the world differently. We create flexible pathways that allow young people to begin participating in ways that feel manageable for them.
✔ Designed with neurodivergent, socially anxious and isolated young people in mind
We particularly consider the barriers faced by young people who may struggle with traditional social environments, helping to create opportunities where they can participate without unnecessary pressure.
✔ Use interests as a bridge
Shared interests can make connection feel more natural. Gaming, creativity, technology, entrepreneurship and other passions can become starting points for friendship, communication and personal development.
✔ Blending safe digital engagement with meaningful face-to-face participation
Our online community provides a supportive first step for young people who are not yet ready to engage face-to-face. As their confidence grows, we create pathways to real-world relationships and active community participation by inviting them to co-create activities and projects they are truly passionate about.
✔ Creating progression from belonging to leadership
We don't want young people simply to receive support. As their confidence develops, they can progress from belonging and participation towards leadership, co-design and meaningful contribution through our Nottingham Youth Leaders Programme.
✔ Supporting the whole family alongside the young person
We recognise that young people's wellbeing is connected to their wider family environment. Our Parents' Wellbeing Programme provides opportunities for parents/carers to develop their own wellbeing, connections and support networks.
✔ Complementing existing services rather than duplicating them
We recognise the valuable work already being carried out by youth organisations, schools, community groups and other services. Our role is to help reach young people who may not yet be accessing these opportunities and support them towards greater participation.
