2024 University of Houston’s Teacher Education Program: Host Teacher, Fall Semester 2024
Welcomed an Art Teacher in Training into my classroom to observe and work alongside me for the Fall semester of 2024. I trained her on material management, classroom management, designing lessons, building and maintaining student sketchbooks, creating art displays of student work, planning curriculum for months at a time, making her presence known as the classroom authority figure, as well as how to be flexible as timelines and assignments change for different class periods or lessons.
2023 "Teaching Gen Z: Lessons as Reels", 2023 Texas Art Education Association Conference, Allen TX
Designed and led a seminar titled "Teaching Gen Z: Reels as Lessons" to discuss how educators can leverage Gen Z and Gen Alpha learning trends to redesign lessons for efficient learning in today's environment. The hands-on workshop portion demonstrated a "Reels as Lessons" project, where art teachers learned to record their processes, edit the video, trim it down to a 1-3 minute clip, and add voiceover narration. This seminar attracted 108 teachers from across Texas at the annual Texas Art Educator Association Conference on November 17, 2023.
