Jerry Meehl & Christine Shields
July 2021 - August 2025
In this position I have had the opportunity to work with several very accomplished scientist. I have had the opportunity to hone my Python skills by working with datasets ranging from radiosonde records to ERA5 reanalysis data. I also had the opportunity to put together a poster and present at the AMS 20th Conference on Mountain Meteorology in Park City, UT in the summer of 2022.
This project was motivated by the observations of long time Boulder residents where it was noticed that the strong wind events which had destroyed homes and buildings, no longer occured. Students who worked on this project before me investigated the role of more strict building codes in this percieved shift, but this seemed to not explain it all. My time in this position has been fouced on investigating the role of our changing climate.
