Summary:

    • Discussed Project Plan with Project Owner and confirmed timeline, scope, and milestones were applicable.
    • Went over concerns with Project owner including what the end result ( predictive model versus test case)
    • Split the top 50 breaches in the US (by data ex-filtrated) among team members. Each team member was assigned 12-13 data breaches to start researching
    • Created a template to document our research accordingly
    • Set goals for the week which included 2-3 breaches researched and documented (according to the template)
    • Set meeting time for the following Sunday at 9:00 pm

Summary:

    • Jason started the meeting by discussing a meeting that he had with the Project Owner (Both work at Home Depot) during the week. Jason had talked with Home Depot about using some of the tools to help with our research (in particular Security ScoreCard). Jason also talked with Project Owner about different ways to go about gathering data and documenting in a structured way. Lastly, Stephen suggested that we look into adding a risk score into the final product.
    • Chanin and Kevin discussed the research they had completed on their assigned breaches
    • The topic of shrinking the scope of the research was discussed due to the difficulty of keeping the research consistent
    • Team voted on shrinking the correlation research to twitter. We would correlate tweets and companies twitter feed during the time of the breach.
    • Jason confirmed with Project Owner that twitter would be acceptable
    • Witt will reach out to Dr. Li to confirm twitter is acceptable
    • Team meeting setup for next Sunday at 9:00 pm
    • Team looking for google messages from Witt and Jason to start researching twitter analysis tools.

Summary:

    • Discussed project status with team and consultant of Project Owner (Jon Anderson).
    • Went through Milestone ppt.
    • Worked through different scenarios on obtaining twitter data. Jason has a couple solutions he is investigating this week and will report back with his findings sometime midweek
    • We are reaching out to another profession (Andy Green) on some advice for data mining twitter
    • Developed a backup plan if twitter data becomes not feasible

    • Discussed issues with finding data sets of social media (twitter)
    • Jason has found 3+ tools that seem promising (DiscoveryText especially)
    • Group members agreed that twitter data was not as easy to get as we thought
    • Waiting to hear back from Jason before moving forward
    • Set meeting for following Sunday at 9:00 pm

    • Jason had updates on social data companies, still in the works of talking through possibilities
    • DiscoveryText creator has given us a working data set for Home Depot to test out
    • Other companies are too expensive
    • Should know more about options later in the week
    • Setting up call with Dr. Li about data issues this week
    • Set meeting for following Sunday at 9:00 pm

Summary:

    • Talk with Dr. Li about issues with data and how to move forward
    • Had some technical issues, but came away with Dr. Li giving us the “ok” to change our scope and to send an email with the options
    • Team decided to confer with Project Owner before sending Dr. Li our options
    • Meeting lasted 20 minutes

Summary:

    • We moved the meeting to Monday because Jason would have more information on DiscoveryText
    • Learned that the data set we would need (historical data) is too expensive to get for this project
    • Decided we needed to talk with Project Owner and find out expectations for final result
    • Scope needed to be changed again.
    • Setup meeting with Jason, Stephen, and Witt later this week to discuss path forward
    • Set meeting for following Sunday at 9:00 pm

    • Discussed with Project Owner the struggles we were having and finding a way forward
    • Project owner explained what he was expecting and agreed with the idea of a case study
    • Taking a different approach of correlation of companies
    • Jason would write up what was discussed and send to Witt
    • Rest of team is good with the scope change.
