Event details:
Friday March 28th 6:00-7:30 pm
Join us for a gallery event in honor of Transgender Day of Visibility to celebrate and center the voices of the transgender community. Guests will have the opportunity to walk through a gallery of creative works by members of the trans community cultivated to reinforce the importance of listening to and uplifting trans voices, especially at this pivotal time.
This event is open to people of all ages and identities as we work to create a space where people can learn and participate regardless of their previous experience and knowledge.
Listen as Mack Harsell introduces Transgender Day of Visibility and its history. As the event organizer and gallery curator, they speak to the importance of art as a pathway for change and a means for sharing joy.
Please enjoy this digital walkthrough of the gallery that was originally displayed in the gathering space at our center, or our Safe Space. The gallery is composed of writing and artwork by seven different artists cultivated to reinforce the importance of listening to and uplifting trans voices. Each artist and writer chose what information about them was displayed with their piece as we aimed to include people at all levels of confidence and stages of their transition. Let these works speak to you, each with their own individual story and impact.Â
After the event, many people reached out to us with their heartening experiences, some of whom have allowed us to share them here. These members of the community left this event with a new understanding of what it means to support and stand up for the transgender and gender non-conforming people in their lives.
