Brea Resident Advocacy PAC and our volunteers circulated a petition for the referendum on the Brea Plaza Expansion Project. The petition was successful! We delivered the requisite number of signatures to the Brea City Clerk on June 20th, 2022, and the Orange County Registrar of Voters validated that the signatures were from registered voters.
The text below was relevant during signature collection, and retained here for recordkeeping purposes.
Our volunteers will be at various locations in Brea collecting signatures. Look for us at local parks, schools, and in front of stores. We cannot post specific schedules on the website because we've been advised that the owner of Brea Plaza has hired people to "counter protest" our efforts. This is a super pathetic thing for him to do, but we're not going to give him any advantages.
Our volunteers will be bringing the petition door to door in the communities that are most affected by this development, though all of Brea will be impacted by the additional traffic on Imperial, 57, and Birch St. If you see our volunteers, please open the door and sign. Be wary of any "counter protesters" who come to your door advising you not to sign the petition - question their motives. They are non-Breans paid by the developer to try to convince you that you should not have the right to vote on this project.
Look for our volunteers with the petition forms at large events in Brea over the course of late-May and early-June. Beware of "counter protesters" at this event who may try to interfere with you signing the petition or try to convince you that you should not have the right to force this bad project to a vote of Brea residents.

In order to be "valid", the signatures must:
be from people who are registered to vote in the City of Brea. Visit https://ocvote.gov/registration to confirm or update your voter registration status
match the signature you used when registering to vote or the signature on your California Drivers License
stay within the signature box on the petition form
If you cannot make it to one of our events, you may print this short version of our petition packet, which includes 5 signature blocks as well as a circulator declaration. Any person over 18 may sign as the circulator (i.e. you can sign the petition AND be the circulator). It would be AWESOME if you can have the registered voters in your household sign this (that includes any adult children!) and return it to us. We have to have the original copy (no scans/faxes), so we'll coordinate a pickup if you email us at brearesidentpac@gmail.com, or you can mail it to us at the PAC's headquarters: 311 Amberwick Ln.
