We are political action committee established to advocate for causes important to Brea residents. The first project we took on is a ballot referendum opposing the Brea Plaza Expansion project, a 6-story, 155-unit apartment building in the Brea Plaza.
The city's public hearing process is flawed, and is often a sham. We can submit comments and speak to the council, but the council, who is meant to represent the voters, rarely is influenced by these comments. It's a shame this PAC is needed, but it offers a way for Brean's to actually be heard.
This PAC can also serve as a means to ensure the elected officials who are supposed to represent us, actually represent us. If they don't, we can use the PAC to help hold them accountable. Brea councilmembers should never feel comfortable or complacent in their roles. They should always be behaving the way their constituents expect them to.
