How to Support Children's Brain Development 

Encourage brain development through:

• Play: through talking, singing, "Peek-a-boo", playing with blocks, toys or pretend play. All of these encourage children to foster creativity and imagination.

• Comfort: As babies make sure to hold, cuddle and nurture babies. Babies can feel stress which can stunt brain development. Providing love and support helps babies handle stress.

• Reading: Reading is one of the best ways to promote a child's brain development. Reading even before the child can recognize letters/words, reading can kickstart a child's language and communication skills. Reading and seeing pictures connect those to in a child's mind. Repeating the same books further builds recognition between the words you speak and the images on the page. 

• Home reading routines have been found to be an important predictor of children’s oral language and socio-emotional skills.
