This page contains any and all personal projects that I complete for practical use, learning new methods and code, or recreational purposes. These projects are either mostly or entirely designed by myself, and are not affiliated with any school or work projects.
This project was started to help my father with a problem he had encountered with a rear cupholder installed in his car, a 2016 Volkswagen Jetta. The cupholder was stable, however was unable to hold cups unless they were very small, as they would fall out.
The first idea was to make a larger cup that would be rigid so that it would be clamped by the cupholder enough that it would not fall out, unlike the flexible cups commonly placed in the cupholder. This was later modified to connect between two cups in order to add additional stability.
This design is rather simple, and only took about ten minutes to gather measurements and design the simple mount. It is entirely 3D printed and creates a base that the camera could mount to in order to allow a rear facing camera at a suitable angle.
