My top skill according to the Strength Finders test was Achiever. As it's described on the website, it's the feeling of waking up every day starting at zero. I always have to accomplish something every day, and no day can be wasted. This could mean finishing homework, wrapping up a presentation for work, or doing chores around the house. Regardless of the tasks, I have to get things done.
My next skill that is most prevalent for me is competition. This is something that I use everyday, and I think it goes perfectly with my achiever skill that I mentioned above. Growing up in a house with three other siblings, I competed in everything. From sports, to grades, to getting the last piece of food at the dinner table, nothing in our house was done without a competition. This in large part has shaped me into the person I am today, and I'm constantly competing with myself, and others around me.
This strength from Strength Finders is probably what most of my friends and family will say is my greatest strength, and that's analytical thinking. What this involves is numbers and data, and lots of it. When making decisions, I enjoy having all the numbers and facts that I can in front of me before making a conclusion, and if I can't find anything, I'll do it myself. This skill is the one I'm probably most proud of because it wasn't something I developed until a few years ago, however, it's something that I use now in my everyday life as basketball coach.
As you might have guessed by reading the title of my fourth skill, I love to learn. I enjoy reading articles, watching the news, or watching clips online whenever I can to learn more about really anything that I can. My favorite thing to do is read about all the little useless facts about players, teams, and leagues that nobody needs to know, but might want to know. For example, do you know who led the Baltimore Orioles in home runs during the 1996 season? - Brady Anderson, who I was actually named after, with 50.
My last and final skill isn't as obvious as the other four were in terms of name recogintion, but essentially what this means is I enjoy solving problems. And let me tell you something, I don't just like soliving problems - I love it. This is why I think I enjoy being a coach so much because there are so many challenges and problems that you face throughout the day, week, months, and season, and each problem has it's own circumstances. Whether it be a play that's not working on offense, a player that's hurting us on defense, or an error we made as coaches, I really do enjoy solving these problems, and there's nothing quite like the feeling of solving a tough problem.
