In our inaugural Carcassonne PBEM tournament, 52 players competed in a total of 103 2-player games over the course of nine round to ultimately crown Kevin Hammond as our champion.
This event used a double-elimination format, with rounds continuing until only one player was left standing with less than two losses. Details on the tournament format can be found at https://sites.google.com/view/bpa-pbem/CAR-2025.
In the final game between Kevin Hammond and Chris Wildes, each player wound up focusing on a different feature type, with Kevin scoring the majority of monastery points and Chris scoring all of the farm points. Interestingly though, these points completely balanced out, with an 18 point difference between the players for each. It actually wound up being roads that won the day for Kevin, with nine of his thirteen point difference coming from roads (23 road points for Kevin, 14 for Chris). Across the entirety of the final game, points were only shared once, for an incomplete city at the end of the game.
Thanks to everyone who competed in this event, and congratulations to all of our laurelists! Our top six finishers are:
Kevin Hammond
Chris Wildes
Bronwyn Woods
Robbie Mitchell
Debbie Gutermuth
Albert Bangma
