PhD Research Activities

During my thesis, we targeted both data collection and service offering in vehicular networks. First, we proposed two data collection protocols called ECDGP (Extended Cluster-based Data Gathering Protocol) and DDGP (Distributed Data Gathering Protocol). They provided an efficient and reliable collection process by collecting the maximum amount of data in the minimum period of time, while also minimizing the rate of erroneous data.

Second, we also proposed two service offering and consuming protocols, named DCCS-VC (Discovering and Consuming Cloud Services in Vehicular Clouds) and RCS-VC (Renting out and Consuming Services in Vehicular Clouds). DCCS-VC and RCS-VC exploited public buses and LTE-A cellular network infrastructure as Cloud directories, respectively, in which provider vehicles stored their offers and from which consumer vehicles discovered all offered services.

Finally, we proposed two service selection schemes in vehicular Cloud to select the most suitable service provider. Our schemes took into account consumers preferences and providers requirements and determined the best provider in terms of quality of service.
