Dear 2023 Kindy Parents,

On behalf of the P&C - welcome to Bourke Street! As the newest members of our community, I wish you and your family a happy transition to BIG school! The lead up to your child’s first day can be quite daunting; so the P&C have put together some information to help you better understand this next chapter.

I took over responsibility of leading the P&C in July 2022 after 4.5 years of being involved from the sidelines. I’m fortunate to be joined in leadership by a stellar group of parent executives who are also passionate about our school and committed to supporting the various groups and committees we oversee, all which enhance the welfare of our students.

The P&C usually meets at 6pm on the last Wednesday of the month (Although we have a couple of months where we shift a little - check out Sentral Calendar for firm dates), and I’ve been fascinated to discover just how many aspects of the school our volunteers are actively involved in.

While work and family commitments can be restricting, we encourage all parents to attend P&C meetings when possible. We offer hybrid meetings where you can join us in person in the School library or online from work/home. Please complete this form is you would like to become a financial member of the P&C (or you can join at your first meeting).

I expect both you and your child will have a great experience at Bourke street, and I look forward to meeting you in the new year. If you see me in the playground, or at Coles, please say hi!

Starting Kindy is an exciting yet exhausting experience for both you and your child. The new routine (and packing lunches 5 days a week) may take everyone a term or two to get used to... You will find your child may be very tired after school and too tired to take part in other activities. The important thing to remember is to take things slow and give both yourselves and your child time to adjust to this new phase.
