My tax platform is about making sure residents receive the best value for every tax dollar they pay.
I believe the Town should conduct a line-by-line review of its expenses to identify savings, eliminate unnecessary spending, and find new sources of revenue that do not rely on increasing property taxes.
We need meaningful community engagement and consultation so residents have a voice in how their tax dollars are spent and how we address the challenges of taxation.
We should also create an environment that attracts high-tech businesses and skilled, well-paying jobs to grow our economic base and generate new revenue. Where appropriate, non-essential municipal services should be reviewed for potential private-sector delivery, while maintaining quality and accountability.
Most importantly, we need to rein in spending at all levels, including taking a hard look at Council compensation and expenses, and lead by example when it comes to fiscal responsibility.
