✶ character creation
Can my vassal's patron be related to them?
No. Any fleshless who has gained the power necessary to form pacts with vassals has done so through unspeakable, vile means. They would not have the kindness necessary to have a child, or any family. Vassalhood is not a kindness - it always comes with a price, and never in the vassal's favor.
Can my character have/do rime/tar tattoos?
Rime ink tattoos exist, and are used to give Starlings their distinctive marks. There are people who specialize in giving them, usually glódligs (priests). When applied to non-starlings, the Rime melts through the flesh and causes injuries.
Tar tattoos also exist, and you may find people, particularly in the areas of Umbragard and Murkwyrd, who possess them. However, tar tattoos are toxic, slowly poisoning a person over time. They provide no benefits.
Can I have a pet?
If your character is a Shepherd who has taken the "Animal Companion" trait, yes!
If not, then no.
Can a character worship more than one Cinder?
Most people of the Boreal do! People worship all of the Vigils, even if they may favor one over the others.
Can my character have X weapon?
Your starting weapon is provided by your class, dependent on which equipment set you choose. You are allowed to flavor this weapon as you like, so long as it fits the "base" weapon. For example, flavoring a short sword as a sickle. Both are small, bladed with short ranges.
You are not allowed to simply make up a weapon or item to give your character.
Can my character be X fantasy race?
No. All characters are primarily human. While it isn't unheard of for certain fleshless to produce children with man, be aware you will face much higher scrutiny during the application process if you choose this route. Your character must also, regardless, be more human than not.
