Set a schedule.
The ODL setup blurs the line between home and school, and as a result, it's easy to lose self-control and focus. Keeping a schedule and making to-do lists will give you a clear vision of what you want to achieve and how you'll get there.
Actively participate in class.
Listen in class, take down notes, and recite when you can. If you familiarize yourself with the lessons well enough during class hours, it'll take you less effort when you need to study for the test.
Take breaks.
Forcing yourself to continue working even when you're tired is counterproductive and will only slow you down. Give yourself short breaks to energize and refresh your mind so that you can take on your tasks for the day.
Most of us have different opinions with regards to ODL, but personally, I don't really like ODL as it lowers my efficiency a lot. Similar to the rest of my cohort, we all had quite a hard time adjusting to ODL, first, because it's online, a lot of things are different and there's a lot of challenges, and second, because the whole curriculum of IB was new and unfamiliar to us. With ODL plus IB, all I can say is that it was a really crazy journey. For me, personally, I struggled a lot with time management, procrastination, and distractions during ODL since it was really tempting to just stay in bed the whole day. Therefore, I had no choice but to set up a schedule for myself. I often try setting a time limit for myself for when I should be done with a certain task so that I can ensure I am productive with my time. Staying at home, we are also easily tempted to use our phones or to sleep as they are right within our reach. I think what worked best for me to fix this was to take naps from time to time but requiring myself to be productive once I wake up. With this, I have a fresh mind to learn new things, and I have the motivation to accomplish all that I have to do. I think it's good to set up a fixed routine to follow, especially if you're like me who gives in to temptation really fast because it becomes really hard when you keep procrastinating and the work piles up. ODL can be challenging at times, but as long you find the right method for yourself and adapt to it, it becomes a lot easier. I wish you luck next school year if ever you decide to take IB!
