2024 December : Pray for China
2024 December : Pray for China
Pastor John Cao was released from prison in March 2024, but continues to face persecution.
Pastor John Cao served as a missionary in Myanmar’s Wa State, transforming lives by building schools and working to fight poverty and drug addiction.
On March 5, 2017, Chinese authorities intercepted Cao, resulting in a seven-year prison sentence. He was released on March 4, 2024. Cao continues to face restrictions on his freedom and movement by Chinese authorities, including video monitoring, forced “re-education,” and refusal to issue him an ID card, which prevents him from medical care, even when he suffered a life-threatening bout of coronavirus.
“I left a small prison and entered a large prison,” he told a front-line worker.
Pray for Pastor Cao to receive an ID card and passport, to get the medical and dental care he needs, to be reunited with his wife and children, and to retain his joyful spirit through his ongoing persecution.
2024 November: Pray for Sierre Leone
Brima’s village had been steeped in occult practices for generations. It even had a tree where children were sacrificed to local gods. These deaths would go uninvestigated because villagers reported only that the missing children were “swallowed by the jungle.” .
Brima hopes to reunite with her son who fled witchcraft and occult rituals .
Brima’s son learned of the wicked practice and fled before anything could happen to him. Later, a Christian evangelist came to the village, and most people in the village came to know Christ. They cut down the tree and built a church near where it once stood.
Now Brima wants to see her son and show him how she and the village have changed. She approached a front-line worker after a church service and asked, “Would you pray that my son will return home?”
2024 October: Pray for Christians in Iran and Pakistan
Iranian Converts to Christianity face increased threats of imprisonment under new government restrictions, but even after being imprisoned some witness for Christ in their cells.
Iranians praying.
Nasser, a political prisoner in Iran, tried to commit suicide while imprisoned. A Christian inmate witnessed the attempt and prevented Nasser’s death. The Christian then shared the gospel with Nasser, and he came to faith in Christ. Nasser now meets with imprisoned Christians for times of secret prayer and worship.
Another prisoner named Darius, a Muslim, reported a desire to know more about Christ after experiencing him in a dream. Darius is now in contact with Christians who are helping him learn more about the gospel.
Pakistan: Today, you can set them free.
During our recent visit to Pakistan, God gave us a vision: to release 50 Pakistani Christian families from bonded slavery in the brick kilns.
Each family's debt ranges between $800-$1,000, on average. But due to soaring interest and garnished wages, they can't pay off their loans without your help.
Your gift today will release our Pakistani brothers and sisters from a life of servitude and empower them to keep shining as a light for Christ in Pakistan.
Thank you for showing your care about our persecuted brothers and sisters around the world. Your gift, no matter the size, will have a profound impact on the lives of Christians in Pakistan's brick kilns.

2024 September: Pray for Christians in Vietnam
Christian Father Faces Life in Prison on False Charges
The father of a Christian family in Vietnam was given a life sentence for drug possession. The drugs were found in his home during a random police search that happened less than 24 hours after a specific threat was made to the father that something bad would happen if he and his family did not renounce their faith.
Pray for Christian Prisoners in Vietnam.
Front-line workers request prayer for this man and his family as they face this separation and seek justice.
2024 August: Pray for Christians in Colombia
Pastor's Children Threatened
Jaime and Ana Luz have ministered in one of Colombia’s “red zones,” areas under guerrilla control, for nine years. In early 2024, they received a phone call from a member of the guerrilla group Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) demanding they pay four million pesos [roughly $1000] in half an hour or their two children, ages 8 and 9, would be killed. The family paid a portion of the demanded amount but have received threatening phone calls and letters slipped under their door.
The lives of Jaime and Ana Luz's children were threatened by violent guerrillas in Colombia .
Still, Jaime and Ana Luz remain committed to advancing the gospel in this area. “I am there, and I will be there until God calls me elsewhere,” Jaime said.
He asked for prayer for strength to continue in the work: “Pray that God helps us because we are in the battleground; you are in another. While you are there praying, we are working, doing God’s work.”
2024 July: Pray for Christians in Eritrea
2024 June: Pray for Christians in Sri Lanka
Mussie Ezaz, who is married and has three children, was arrested in September 2007 for his work as a youth minister with the Kale Hiwot (Word of Life) Church. He had worked as an evangelist for 14 years and served with Youth for Christ for a number of years before establishing a youth ministry at the Kale Hiwot Church.
Eritrean Minister (Mussie Ezaz) arrested for reaching youth.
After his arrest, Mussie was taken to a small village prison staffed by young soldiers. He managed to escape with the help of fellow Christians and, after calling his family to say goodbye, he headed for the border. Upon reaching a border town about 60 miles from the village, he called his family to let them know he had made it. But shortly afterward, Eritrean authorities arrested him before he could cross into a neighboring country.
For a long time after his arrest, Mussie’s family had no knowledge of his whereabouts and no information about his health. Eritrean believers feared he had been killed or left alone in a remote prison cell in the desert. However, more recent reports indicate that Mussie is in Asmara, Eritrea’s capital, in a maximum-security crime investigation unit where many other church leaders have been imprisoned, some for more than 10 years. As with other Christians imprisoned in Eritrea, Mussie has been held without charge or trial. His family does not know if he will ever be released.
You can pray for Mussie and his family, and write an encouraging letter to him and other imprisoned Christians by visiting prisoneralert.com.
We also invite you to stand with imprisoned Christians and their families by offering spiritual encouragement and practical assistance, while being a voice for them among other members of the body of Christ. To learn how, click below.
“Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them, and those who are mistreated, since you also are in the body.”

2024 June: Pray for Christians in Sri Lanka
Anura and Ayesha lead a church in western Sri Lanka that has been repeatedly attacked in recent years. Some of the perpetrators of these attacks are facing charges in court.
Ayesha (right) helps lead a Sri Lankan church that is under fire.
However, Ayesha reported, every time the court dates near, groups in the village try to stir up trouble by breaking Buddha statues or throwing human feces on them and then blaming the church for dishonoring Buddhism. So far, no progress has been made in these cases.
In 2023, attackers threatened new converts from the villages and pelted stones at their houses. Police have interfered with services and even directly threatened Pastor Anura to stop church services.
Pray for Anura, Ayesha and their church to be bold and courageous as they bear suffering and continue to take the gospel to more villages.
2024 May: Pray for Christians in Mauritania
In December 2023, Mauritanian authorities arrested a group of around 15 Christians after a video of them participating in a baptism was posted online. All of the arrested Christians were former Muslims.
Christians have very limited access to Christian material in Mauritania.
Mauritania is dominated by Islamist leadership, and conversion from Islam is illegal. “At first, no lawyer would defend them,” said a front-line worker. “The officials tried to get them to apologize on social media for spreading the gospel, to agree to never promote Christianity, and to return to Islam,” he added. All of the Christians were released late in December after agreeing to only hold Christian services inside their homes.
“This is an answer to prayer,” said the front-line worker, who requested additional prayer for the small Mauritanian Christian community and for more Bibles to be distributed in the restricted nation.
2024 April: Pray for Anisha and Ashish in Nepal
Anisha rented a small, unfurnished room alone after her eviction.
Anisha and Ashish, who married early in 2023, went to a local church in search of healing from demonic spirits that harassed Ashish. Church members prayed for them, and Ashish was healed. The newlyweds began to read the Bible they had received at the church and soon wanted to place their trust in Jesus Christ.
When Ashish’s parents found the Bible, they insisted that the young couple renounce Christ and stop going to church. Ashish agreed, but Anisha did not. She was forced to leave the home without money for food or shelter, so the local church helped her with basic needs.
Soon, Ashish decided to join her again. Now Anisha asks for prayer for the strengthening of her husband’s faith and that they would together stand firm and be witnesses for Christ in their families. They are currently considering attending a training program to grow in their knowledge of the Bible.
2024 March: Pray for Khaled in Lebanon
Khaled’s Lebanese Muslim family was displeased when he decided to become a follower of Christ. After learning about his newfound faith, they attacked him and locked him in a room away from his wife, attempting to force him to return to Islam. But Khaled escaped and eventually reunited with his wife.
Most Lebanese are Muslims
She was also not supportive of his conversion and only allowed him to return if he paid the full cost of their housing and living expenses without any financial assistance from her. He found a new job, is paying the expenses, and is trying to demonstrate God’s love to his wife.
He said she has noticed a change in him and occasionally asks about the peace he has despite his many challenges. Khaled recently led a colleague to Christ and is now discipling him and taking him to church.
2024 February: Pray for Gabriela in Mexico
Gabriela lives in a Minteca community in Oaxaca, Mexico. She was beaten around 40 times for her faith, but she continues to make outreach trips to the mountains to spread the gospel.
Please pray for the Lord's protection, and for the name of Christ be made known.
2024 January : Pray for Laos Village Headman
Sed, the headman of his village, believed in Christ and hosted a worship service in his home. As a result, he was persecuted.
Please pray that the Lord will strengthen his faith and help him to continue witnessing for Him.
