Pray for Iran
Pray for Christians in Iran:
Massive numbers of Iranians have come to Jesus in recent years! From only 500 Muslim-background believers in 1979, many estimates suggest the number is even greater than 1 million just in Iran alone. Large numbers of Persian people have also encountered the risen Christ outside of Iran. The Church in Persia has not grown this fast since the 7th century. In Iran, a person can receive a death sentence for apostasy (abandoning religious faith). This growth is a remarkable move of the Holy Spirit, with many signs and wonders, dreams and visions. The 1979 Islamic Revolution promised peace and prosperity, but more than 40 years later, the people felt more oppression, bloodshed, cruel ‘justice’, corruption, economic hardship, and cultural isolation from most of the world. These struggles have made many people very open to the gospel. Pray that Iranians’ desires for greatness, prosperity, freedom, and even for righteousness might ultimately be met through worship of Jesus.

In February 2023, the Iranian government released thousands of long-held prisoners during a general pardon. Those released included several Christians imprisoned for practicing their faith.
Upon their release, the government confiscated the work permits of the freed Christians, so they cannot hold jobs to provide for their families. Additionally, they are constantly under government surveillance.
“They have to be very careful about interacting with other believers,” said one front-line worker.

Please pray that the Lord will meet the needs of these recently released Christians.
Iran
When Benesh’s parents died, she experienced peace from God, a peace that was shocking to her sister and other family members. When they questioned her reaction, she took the opportunity to answer their questions and tell them about her faith in Christ. At first, she feared what her family or others might say or do when they learned that she had left Islam to follow Christ, but she quickly overcame that fear when she realized how hungry Iranians are for God’s truth.
Sharing your faith can be dangerous in Islamic countries, but Benesh is so focused on sharing her joy in Christ that she doesn’t even think about the threat of the Islamic regime.
Internet conferencing services are powerful tools for front-line workers to reach and train Christians in restricted countries.
One web-based course offered live lessons focused on spiritual healing. The class profoundly impacted one Iranian woman: “The lesson examined Bible verses on forgiveness.
We also discussed the power of unforgiveness on our emotions,” she said. “When I was praying one night, I remembered that the teacher said, ‘We must forgive ourselves.’ I had been cruel to myself and always tried, and failed, to live up to the standards of others. It gave me terrible headaches.”

She shared with front-line workers how the course changed her life. “It was like a miracle,” she said. “The terrible headache was gone — and it usually did not get better even with four or five painkillers. I felt completely unburdened and healed!”
