A day of fun, games & activities - Saturday July 25, 2026 - 8:30am - 3:30pm
At the Melissa Building
Join us for a powerful Deacon's Day
Through service, uplifting messages, great food, and fun activities, we'll strengthen our identity as disciples of Jesus Christ and prepare for the roles He is calling us to fulfill.
Breakfast, lunch, and some sweat treats will be provided!
As part of the activities, we will be getting wet, so please bring an extra pair of clothes, a swimsuit or something to get wet in.

What is Institute?
The Institute of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is for young adults. We seek to provide a place where young adults can find a sense of community and help in navigating life challenges. We do this through various classes and activities that help young adults study and live the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our classes and workshops are taught by expert teachers. Our programs and activities are designed by a council of local young adults who seek to present the resources of the Church in a way that is relevant to the life of a young adult.
When you have a free evening, join us at the Institute of Religion for a shared meal and pickleball tournament. Or, join a 14-week class where an expert teacher leads you in an exploration of the teaching of Jesus Christ in the New Testament. Or, pick a 3-week workshop on building trust in relationships. All are welcome here!

3:00–5:00pm Leadership session - all Stake and Ward Priesthood and Sister Organization Leaders, including Presidents, Counselors, Secretaries, Clerks and Advisors.
6:30–8:00pm Adult Session - everyone in the Stake 18 years and older as well as any friends who you would like to invite to join us.

10:00am-Noon General Session - All who are able to attend
Plan to enjoy the park-like area with a picnic lunch

These meetings will not be broadcast. We encourage all who are able to attend in person.

US Hwy 75 Construction may affect your travel plans.
As of this time, we are not aware of any plans to have the Houston/Lamar exit closed which is where we anticipate most folks exiting Highway 75 to get to the Auditorium. Any changes regarding this item will be communicated as soon as we receive an update. In that regard, no news will be considered good news!
Auditorium seating will be available starting at 9am.
Consider carpooling to Sherman.
We ask everyone to allow the closest parking to the Auditorium (the parking lot entrance on Mulberry Street and street parking along Elm Street) be reserved for less mobile, elderly and/or handicapped members.

The map outlines/highlights the area around the Sherman Kidd-Key Auditorium.
The red boxes indicate churches where we are asking members not to park so as not to negatively impact their congregants and/or worship services that morning. These include:
First United Methodist Church (401 N Elm St), and
Covenant Presbyterian Church (322 W Pecan St)
The green boxes mark city-owned property where members are allowed to park. There are also several marked parking stalls along the streets downtown that are first come first serve.
An important note for those not familiar with this part of Sherman: Both Houston and Lamar Streets are one-way streets. Houston St is visible on the map provided and traffic direction arrows (red) point westward towards Highway 75. Lamar St is largely off-image and traffic runs eastward away from Highway 75.
