Lily and I arrived at Amsterdam Schiphol after a hard landing (yikes!) in the early afternoon. We Ubered to our houseboat Airbnb to get settled and relax before heading to the Van Gogh Museum. Jet lag is real, but we stayed awake and watched some Dutch reality TV. It was fun to experience that slice of life, even if we didn't understand what was going on!
After our rest, we headed out to the Van Gogh Museum. This is something not included on the tour and you need to buy tickets well in advance. It was truly amazing to see Van Gogh's works in person. We also saw an exhibit on works by Matthew Wong.
After we closed the museum, we wandered around Museumplaein because we had some time to kill before dinner. There was lots to see and we would've explored more, but because of the rain that had arrived, we took shelter in a cool old bookstore. Once the rain let up, we headed out to find our restaurant, Kaasbar.
I had seen Kaasbar on Instagram over the winter and, as a cheese aficionado, I felt it was my duty to investigate. Boy, it did NOT disappoint! I have never seen so much cheese in one place in my whole life. We had a seat at the counter where we could see not only the cheese going by, but the staff prepping cheese plates to go on to the conveyor belt.
Sufficiently filled with cheese and feeling the effects of jet lag, we made our way back to the houseboat for some much needed sleep.
