"Crash space", as in "a place to crash for the night", is a space in someone's home where someone is welcomed to spend the night. It might be a bed, a couch, space on the floor to put out your own sleeping bag or air mattress, or something else. It ought to be okay to presume it includes use of a bathroom, but don't presume more than that. As a host, if that's all you can or want to offer, THAT'S STILL GREAT! It saves somebody hotel costs or even just makes it possible for someone to attend our event at all! As a guest, the above is true, and you're best just not setting yourself up for disappointment by expecting anything more that you haven't specifically coordinated with your hosts in advance.
Dahrien Cordell is the Crash Space coordinator for 2024's Boar's Head; see the Event Staff page for a direct e-mail address. Please use the forms below to offer crash space as a host for one or more of our guests, or to request crash space, for the event. The coordinator will use the information you provide to save time and to make the best matches possible. For instance, we can avoid putting someone allergic to smoke in a smoker's home by not putting those two in touch in the first place. If we get a crash space request for which we don't have a compatible hosting offer yet, we'll put the request up on the local e-mail list without contact information first, to see if anyone volunteers to host at that point. There are never guarantees, but we'll do our best, and keep in communication.
Also, the forms below can be filled out in place, or popped out to their own browser page; on a mobile device, there is a pale gray square button to do so in the upper-right corner of each form's frame, below; on a non-mobile device, hover the mouse over a form's frame, below, to reveal the same button.
