Dear BMP Families,
There is currently a proposed boundary change data scenario as part of the comprehensive school boundary review that significantly affects BMP.
The proposed changes would cause approximately 25% of the school to change, and many would be traveling farther to get to school. BMP will be the only school in this area whose student population will be more than 100% capacity. And while eliminating attendance islands is a goal of this whole effort, the changes to BMP’s map will create an attendance island. In fact, all 3 proposed boundary change scenarios have some current students leaving our community and a group of students in the attendance island traveling to our community. Additionally, there is a proposal to change our high school from Edison HS to Annandale HS. All of these proposed changes will be very disruptive for our kids, the faculty, and the community.
In the image to the left, our current boundaries are outlined in black, and the proposal for the new BMP community is in orange. You can see the 3 proposals on the interactive boundary map at https://www.fcpsboundaryreview.org/ Information regarding Bren Mar Park specifically can be found at the April 11, 2025 committee presentation and notes at https://www.fcps.edu/april-11-2025-superintendents-boundary-review-advisory-committee-meeting
The above slide deck was created by our PTA and submitted to our boundary representatives. We would love your help to email the boundary committee with your concerns and encourage them to represent Bren Mar during the upcoming committee meetings. Revised boundary proposals will be presented in the Fall 2025, and subsequently voted on in January 2026. The boundary changes would then be implemented for the Fall 2026 school year.

We have time before there will be any vote on this, but the time to advocate for BMP is now. Please let us know if you have any questions or would like details on how to get move involved.
Best,
The BMP PTA
