Hi everyone! My name is Fiza and I am a fourth year Biomedical Engineering Premedical major. I scribe and research at local hospitals and am a member of the optical histology team in Dr. Choi’s MTI Lab where we are utilizing non-invasive imaging techniques to help diagnose certain diseases. I also work at Vena Vitals, a non-invasive blood pressure monitoring startup and plan to attend medical school after I graduate. In my free time I love going to Disneyland, binging the Marvel TV shows, and traveling. I’m very grateful for all the memories and experiences BMES has given me and I’m excited to be president and lead this amazing club!

Hey my name is Shlok and I am a 4th year Biomedical Engineering major. I am a member of the Feminora team in Dr. King's Lab that is redesigning the vaginal speculum to bring comfort to patients and convenience to physicians. I hope to to work at a medical device company and help make implantable devices which can help people have access to the lives they want to live. In my free time I love to cook, playing sports, traveling, thrifting, and spending time with my family and friends. I’m a fourth year biomedical engineering major with research experience in microfluidics, bioinformatics, and machine learning from working in Dr. Elliot Hui's lab. I am currently a Co-op for manufacturing engineering at Alcon Laboratories where I work in lasers and optics. I hope to either get my PhD or MBA or both! I am so excited to start the year as your internal Vice President and I have a passion to mentor others so please reach out for anything. Hi! I'm Christine and I'm a third year biomedical engineering major. I am an undergraduate research assistant in HERO lab working with zebrafish and ECGs. I've interned at Medtronic this past summer in Regulatory Affairs under the Structural Heart and Aortic team and worked at a small startup as an assembler. I plan to work in industry for a few years and attend graduate school for an MBA and/or an MS in engineering. I love playing basketball, shopping, going to the beach, roller skating and trying out new cuisines and restaurants with friends. I'm so excited to meet you all and I can't wait to see what the future holds for BMES!

Hi! I'm Lyna, and I'm a second year Biomedical Engineering. Although I am still deciding between medicine and engineering, I'm glad to be apart of BMES, which has given me lots of experience and connections to both career paths. I am currently part of the Fetal Blood Sampling Lab under the supervision of Dr. King, where we are developing a device that can read the pH of fetus blood to determine fetal distress. Hey! My name is Akhil and I am a second year Biomedical Engineering Premedical major. I currently research in the Hirshberg Lab at the Beckman Laser Institute where we explore light meditated therapies for reducing the size of brain tumors in vitro. After undergrad, I aspire to go to medical school and pursue a career in sports medicine. When I'm not studying or working, I love playing basketball and spending time outdoors hiking and biking.
