Black Mount P7s are working with artist Ellen McCann to design a community fun day which will celebrate the launch of the community tile artwork and also have fun activities for all.

FREE ACCESS to the school grounds during school holidays
We now have permission from the local authority to use the school grounds during set times during school holidays.
Over 50 people attended across four days in the summer; and a further seven people during one rainy day in the October break. There has been lots of much needed work was completed on the polytunnel, weeding, growing areas and willow tunnel.
Thanks to everyone who enjoyed and helped and made this possible. We will continue to repeat this in future holidays.
Another successful BIGGAR GALA DAY on 15th June 2024
THEME: WESTERN/RODEO (think horses, cowboys / cowgirls, rodeo, saloons, desert, cows)
*Important note: we are not including any references/costumes connected to first nations / Indigenous American peoples so that we can avoid any cultural appropriation.
DUCK RACE at Dunsyre *17th MAY 2024*
Another HUGE SUCCESS with a net profit of £1346 - an 118% increase on last year!!!
HUGE THANK YOU to the incredible organising committee and all those who bought ducks, came on the night and made it a success.

FAMILY FILM NIGHT - SAVE THE DATE Friday 16th February 2024
We showed Super Mario, and welcomed over 100 people from the school and our local community to the Biggar Corn Exchange.
We raised a whopping £500 PROFIT for the parent council funds and a huge thank you to Helen, James, Claire, Nadia, Gregor, Trina and all the other helpers and attendees.

The community came together to finish the Black Mount Primary Community Art Project with Artist Ellen McCann
In 2019 the school children, families and wider community came together to contribute to a Community Arts project at Black Mount Primary School.
Inspired by bees and their honeycomb hives, people were invited to make a tiles as part of a panel of hexagon tiles with each tile representing something of the local area.
The work is now installed in the entrance to the school - a launch event will follow.

Over 40 people joined us for our CAR TREASURE HUNT on 30th September 2023
It was a fun packed day with an incredible car treasure hunt around Black Mount, Quothquan and Biggar followed by pizza, drinks and baking in the School's hall and community garden.
We raised over £250 towards the developing the community garden.
Huge thanks to Angela and Katie for organising, Andrew and Tricky for pizza-making and all the many parent helpers who chipped in.
The POLYTUNNEL is COMPLETE
Huge thank you to all who helped over the long long build. You are wonders and we cannot wait to see what the school and nursery want to do with it.
We will still need community help with the garden, plants, and expertise so if you want to help get in touch!
THE PAGODA/GAZEBO IS HERE!! Next time you are picking up check it out.

COMMUNITY SPORTS EQUIPMENT: We were lucky to get some money from VASLAN last year to do a number of things to improve the outdoor space at Black Mount. This included a box and sports equipment for community use. Spread the word locally and try some of them out next time you are up (so far there are things for badminton, tennis, rugby, football, and even a little circus fun)
On 26th AUGUST 2023 children and families joined the Black Mount Social Group to walk up Black Mount hill
After a sunny and fresh walk everyone enjoyed some tea, rolls and baking at the school.
Donations were welcomed for the Fireworks and Senior Citizens Christmas Lunch which the Social Group organise and they managed to raise over £265.

Biggar GALA DAY PRIZE WINNING FLOAT - 17th June 2023
Black Mount float won the overall decorated float prize again with an incredible float.
THEME: 1950s UK Beach holiday (think donkey rides and beach huts)
Thank you to Carrie Allison and to all the incredible helpers, people who gathered materials, built the float, helped out on the day and dressed up and joined in.
DUCK RACE at Dunsyre *19th MAY 2023, 6.30-8pm*
EVERYONE WAS VERY EXCITED TO SEE THE DUCKS IN ACTION (and for clarity they were not live ducks).
Kids had incredible fun and the weather was brill. Well done to the Katy Hobbs and the Duck Race organising crew!
The event raised £612 which will be put towards resources and activities to benefit the school.
Biggar Farmers Club have kindly donated £1000 towards our rebuild of the school pagoda/gazebo that burned down shortly before the school moved to the new site in 2019.
Sonic2 Family film night - February 2023 at Biggar Corn Exchange. A great success with 57 people joining us on the night!
We held our first community consultation, following a public survey, on 11th January 2023 at 6-7pm. Some brilliant ideas came out of this and we are looking at what funding might help us get started.
Parents Evenings in March 2023. The parent council was there to gather your thoughts/ideas.
We are working on getting a pagoda for the school grounds. We are expecting delivery mid-Feb and hopefully we can get in built and installed for Springtime!
