Save the date! Blue Horizons is back in 2026. We have a fresh new format and we're ready to ignite the Australian space-based Astronomy community. BH26 will be held at the Australian National University from the 12th - 13th of November, featuring exciting talks and an exhibition space to showcase innovative Aussie space telescope missions and science drivers.
This year, Blue Horizons talk slots will be allocated to the members of space telescope mission teams.
Astronomers, it's time to reach out to your Blue Horizons network, your fellow Australian universities, and the Australian space industry. Form connections, and build your mission concept.
Each mission will be submitted to AAL as a science EOI with the potential for future NCRIS funding.
It takes teamwork to make the dream work. Each team will be given a session to present their mission concept, consisting of 5 talk slots to cover topics such as:
mission overview
astronomy science cases
instrumentation
spacecraft hardware
satellite platforms
data management
industry engagement
astro-tech translation
Rome wasn't built in a day...
If you have a brilliant science case, an innovative new instrument or clever mission concept - but you can't find the expertise needed to build your team, reach out to the Astronomy-Space Coordinating Committee!
We'd be happy to help you find your team.
The next NCRIS Roadmap process presents the opportunity to identify new investments in astronomy infrastructure from 2028 onwards, in line with the 2026 NRI Roadmap and aspirations of the 2026-35 Decadal Plan for Astronomy. Let's seize this opportunity to invest in Australian space-based astronomy.
Reach out to your network, build your team, dream up your mission, and prepare for take off!
