The purpose of BH2026 is to build the teams who will launch Australia's next space telescope. To get the most out of BH2026, it is recommended you join a mission. There is no limit to the number of individuals on a single mission.

Every team will have a mission lead. They are someone who will spearhead the space telescope mission, and advocate for their team.

To register a mission team, you will need a few things:

- a mission lead
- an astronomer
- an instrument scientist
- an engineer
- an industry engagement specialist
- a mission name
- a logo!
If you're having trouble building a team or finding a team to join, you can reach out to us via the link below. Remeber, the idea here is to reach out to new people in the community. The team doesn't need to be perfect - but you might be surprised with what you find!

When mission abstracts open on May 1st, your mission lead will register your team.

- There is no limit to the number of individuals who can be part of your team
- You can have more than one team member in each category
- You must have at least 5 team members, one from each specialisation, to register
- Team members can be across multiple institutions. International partnerships are also welcome, but the mission lead must reside in Australia.
- Not everyone in your team needs to give a talk - please indicate in your submission who will be speaking
- Maximum up to 5 team members per mission may give a talk (but you can submit as few as 1 talks)
Only the mission lead needs to submit an abstract to register their whole team

When teams register a mission abstract, they have the option to have their mission details shared on the BH2026 website (with their permission). Each mission will be given a website page to advertise and advcate for their work.

They can even advertise for roles they need to be filled within the team. This enables researchers and engineers without teams to broaden their horizons, and enables teams to fill gaps in their expertise.

If you already have an estabolished team and require no assistance, there is no requirement to publish your details.

All mission teams are welcome to attend BH2026, but talks will be awarded competativley.

Following review by the space science leads comitty, talk slots will be awarded to entire mission teams (as few as 1, and up to 5 talks) with announcements on the 14th August.

Following selection, teams must submit all talk titles and the mission logo for the BH2026 program by September 1st.

Every registered mission will have the opportunity to submit an EOI to be considered for NCRIS future funding. Invitations will be sent out following mission abstract closure.

Please note, there is no guarantee of mission funding, but no funding can be awarded if you do not submit an EOI to AAL.

Abstracts can be up to 600 words, and should include:

- the purpose of the mission
- the key science questions that you expect to investigate
- how the Australian astronomical community will be able to engage with, and benifit from this mission
- the innovative instrumentation your space telescope will use
- how you plan to build the space telescope
- how you plan to engage industry, and the types of interdisciplinary fields you may be able to address with your space telescope (space domain awareness, bushfire monitoring etc)
