Rationale-
This artifact is a parent communication reflection tool log that I completed for a course assignment. It aligns with Standard 8- Collaborative Relationships. A parent (or guardian) communication log allowed me to collaborate with the families by providing a clear and consistent way for me to communicate with parents and guardians about their child's academic progress and other important information.
By utilizing the a communication log, I was able to help support student learning by keeping parents and guardians informed about their child's progress and any areas of concern. Effective communication is essential for building positive relationships between teachers and families. By continuing to use a log like this in the future, I can ensure that communication with families is consistent, transparent, and respectful. A parent communication log can also help engage more effectively with families and communities by providing a means of sharing information and soliciting feedback from parents and guardians.
In summary, a parent communication log aligns with Standard 8 of collaborative relationships by promoting collaboration with families, supporting student learning, building positive relationships, and engaging with families and communities. By using a parent communication log, teachers can help ensure that parents and guardians are informed and engaged in their child's education, and that the teacher-family relationship is built on a foundation of trust and respect. This is what I strive for as a teacher.
