Blessed Acres Kiko Farm - Rainbow Roost

We have chosen to raise heritage-breed chickens here at Blessed Acres Farm - birds with deep roots and important history. Several of our breeds are listed as "threatened" by the Livestock Conservancy, and we are proud to help preserve the lines that helped build the poultry we know today. Below, you will find the breeds we currently breed, along with helpful links to learn more about each one.

Right now, we are offering our farm-fresh, organically produced "Rainbow Dozen" eating eggs, gathered daily from hens who lay in every shade you can imagine, light brown, dark brown, blue, green, olive, white, and speckled.

Beginning in 2026, we will also be offering chicks and hatching eggs as we continue growing our flock and sharing these beautiful heritage lines with others.

Our Current Chicken Breeds

*Langshan - Very Rare German breed (critical), blue and black variety, very broody, but tend to be docile, lay moderate amount of brown eggs, cold tolerant

Buff Orpington - British breed, "buff" reddish gold color, consistent light brown/pinkish-tan egg layer, cold hardy and heat tolerant, calm disposition

Lavender Orpington - British breed, slightly rare slate blue color, consistent light brown/ pinkish-tan egg layer, cold hardy and heat tolerant, calm disposition

Americana - also known as "Easter Eggers" are a hybrid breed that lay eggs in a variety of colors, appearance varies

Silverudd Blue - Swedish heritage breed also known as Isbar developed in the 1980s, high green egg production, friendly disposition, hardy and adapt to various climates

Cream Legbar - Rare British breed, cream color, consistent blue egg layer, hardy in a variety of climates, friendly, but do not like to be touched

Calico Cochin Bantam - A cross between Calico Cochins and Bantam Millie Fleurs, fluffy, calico color, lay small tinted or cream eggs, docile, hardy in both cold and hot climates, considerably smaller than regular chickens, often go broody

Ameraucana - American breed, a variety of colors and have muffs and beards, lay blue eggs, resistant to both heat and cold

French Black Copper Marans - Slightly rare French breed, slightly feathered feet, lay dark brown eggs, calm but do not like to be handled

Wheaten Frizzle Silkies - the dominant frizzle gene causes feathers to turn out instead of lay flat

*Belgian D'Uccles - Belgian breed, true bantam with beards, muffs and feathered legs and feet, lay small cream colored eggs, mild temperament

Welsummer - Dutch breed, striking feather patterns, lay dark brown eggs with spots, friendly personality, cold and heat tolerant

Chocolate Egger - Hybrid cross between Black Copper Marans rooster and Rhode Island Red hen, lay dark brown eggs

*Salmon Faverolles - Rare French breed, straw-colored with beard, muff and feathered legs and feet, great winter layers of light brown/pinkish eggs, energetic and curious personality
