Ombudsman dismisses Duque’s admin charges
The Office of the Ombudsman has cleared the administrative charges against former Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque III over the transfer of P41 billion from DOH to the procurement service of the Department of Budget and Management, October 14.
The alleged illegal transfer of the COVID-19
fund should be for COVID-19 supplies such as vaccines during Duterte’s administration.
The administrative case against Duque was lodged on August 15, 2023 and the removal from his service was on June 30, 2022
The Ombudsman also dismissed Duque and former PS-DBM Undersecretary Lloyd Christopher Lao from their service.
In 2022, Sen. Richard Gordon and Sen. Risa Hontiveros favored filing graft complaints against Duque and officials of Pharmally Pharmaceutical Corp. after several months of Senate Blue Ribbon committee hearing about pandemic supplies and budget.
Despite this, Duque and Lao still face the graft complaint from Sandiganbayan in relation to the illegal fund transfer of P41-billion in DOH funds.
