Blair Woman's Club History

The Blair Woman's Club was founded in 1927 by Frances M. Breed, wife of Blair Academy headmaster, Charles Breed. The Club is a member of the New Jersey State Federation of Women's Clubs (NJSFWC, www.njfwc.org) and the General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC, www.GFWC.org.)  GFWC is the largest international women's organization made up of 50 state federations with over 80,000 members, to which local clubs belong.

In 1941, the Club sponsored a town library, which today is known as the Catherine Dickson Hofman Branch of the Warren County library system. 1946 began the uninterrupted annual awarding of scholarships to graduating seniors from North Warren Regional High School.

The Blair Woman's Club is primarily a non-profit service organization . . . holding fundraisers from which the proceeds are used for charitable giving. Monthly meetings with interesting programs on various topics are held at the Walnut Valley United Methodist Church on the 3rd Tuesday of each month.

Sharing ideas, work experiences, time, talents, and friendship, the Blair Woman's Club has continued to have one successful year after another in serving our community.
