Intro to Swetnam Rapier and Dagger
Instructor: Don Julien de la Fontaine
Joseph Swetnam published his fighting manual "The Schoole of the Noble and Worthy Science of Defence" in 1617. Amongst the many weapons forms taught in it, he held the Rapier-and-Dagger and Quarterstaff in highest esteem. His Rapier and Dagger system is efficient, easy to learn, and highly effective. Don Julien de la Fontaine has used this system to win many tournaments, including incorporating its principals to win the Outlands Protector of the Queen's Heart (RQC) tournament. In this class he will lay out the basic principals of Swetnam's Rapier and Dagger, its stance, grip, tactics, and the guards of True Guardant and the Forehand Ward. Fencers of all abilities are welcome. For further information of this fighting manual please see https://wiktenauer.com/wiki/The_Schoole_of_the_Noble_and_Worthy_Science_of_Defence_(Joseph_Swetnam). Studying ahead and bringing questions is welcome and encouraged!
