Privacy Policy

The United States Federal Trade Commission (FTC) requires that any organization or entity that collects information from its website visitors has a privacy policy. The Black Pianists Society currently uses Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager to monitor how often our site is visited, and by who. Both online services are free, public resources that do not show the identities of each website visitor. Google "cookies" simply collect data that helps us cater our website to better reach our target demographic. Our blog & website team can only how many times a visitor clicked on our site and what country they accessed it from. All personal information submitted by website visitors takes place through specific Google Forms (not through the website itself) and is strictly confidential.

Website Disclaimer

The Black Pianists Society for Talented Youth of Color is a student-led virtual organization that primarily focuses on students and affairs based in the United States. We have yet to begin the 501(c)3 application process via the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS). For this reason, we are not accepting donations of any kind at this time. Any person, group, or online account claiming to be affiliated with the BPS in the hopes of collecting donations is being deceptive or misleading. We do not accept responsibility for any cases in that regard. However, as of March 2021, our website will include a page titled "Donations" where all legal and financial information for this topic (as it relates to the Black Pianists Society) will be available in concise, easy-to-understand terms. As our team continues to construct this new aspect of our organization, all financial questions or concerns should be brought to the BPS president directly.

Regarding member and volunteer sign-ups, we will never request any private information including but not limited to one's Social Security number, bank account information, home address, and more. All of our public service projects have specific age requirements for a reason, so most BPS Google Forms require at least the student's name, email address, age and/or grade level. The Black Pianists Society has worked hard to create a network of talented, hardworking, and compassionate students who want to help create more opportunities for youth of color. We vow to never discriminate on the basis of race, gender, ethnicity, religion, nor sexual orientation. Individuals from all walks of life are welcome so long as they put their best foot forward and maintain a positive, professional attitude.

Terms & Conditions

By visiting and accessing the information on this website, all users agree to our use of cookies.

All digital and intellectual property that has not been created by the Black Pianists Society was either posted with owner permission and/or cited appropriately at the bottom of the website page. Articles written by student volunteers for the BPS blog are copyrighted (all rights reserved) and also include any and all sources used. It is expected that work submitted by all students affiliated with the BPS is their own. Both internal and external infringement will be addressed in the event that it occurs.

The Black Pianists Society is not responsible for any student or donor misconduct that takes place outside of our website, social media accounts, email threads, or collaborative materials (specifically Canva, Google Drive, or virtual meetings). All BPS members and volunteers are required to sign a contract prior to their induction - see Member Resources. We have a no-tolerance policy for bullying, harrassment, dishonesty, or hate speech of any kind.

High school students or students aged 14 and up do not require a legal guardian's signature to join. However, interested members and volunteers must meet all of our registration criteria unless granted explicit permission from the BPS President and/or Vice President. Our age minimum is 12/Grade 7 and the maximum is age 19/College Sophomore. This is to protect the safety and security of all minors involved with the Black Pianists Society -- including some chief officers, members, and volunteers. Any BPS projects that involve the use of photos, videos, or other media from students under the age of 18 require a parent/guardian signature and acknowledgment of that specific project's terms and conditions. All project submissions are eligible for varying amounts of volunteer hours unless otherwise specified.
