This week’s Profiles in Black Preservationists brings us to the state of Maryland where we will learn more about preservation architect - Nakita Reed AIA, CPHC, LEED AP BD+C, NOMA.

In addition to being an Associate at Quin Evans, Nakita is the podcast host of Tangible Remnants, and she served as the founding advisor of Black in Historic Preservation. This profile includes a highlight from her preservation portfolio that she shared in the Black Preservationists Directory - the renovation of the historic Baltimore Penn Station headhouse. Per Baltimore’s Commission for Historical and Architectural Preservation (CHAP) November 2020 Draft Staff Report, the exterior rehabilitation and restoration of this National Register of Historic Places landmark includes window repair and replacement, masonry cleaning, and exterior door restoration. The rehabilitation is a part of a multi-million dollar, grand redevelopment of the historic train station that includes modernization and train station additions by Gensler.
