Throughout the movie characters like Shuri and Riri create technologies that can automate and improve the efficiency of certain tasks. For example, Shuri creates the Midnight Angels suits which can assist the Dora Milaje when they are performing their protective duties. These suits offer more protection than the traditional Dora Milaje armor and come with a suite of analytic tools. The suits can render augmented reality displays in front of the wearer and provide analytics like tracking and combat predictions. Alongside the suits, Riri created the vibranium detectors which the U.S. government uses to facilitate their search for vibranium on the seafloor. Overall, with advancements in technology, levels of automation and productivity increase which allows entities like the Dora Milaje and the U.S. government to perform more efficient work.
Despite the advancement in technology that is introduced throughout the movie, certain characters express their dislike towards the change these advancements present. Queen Ramonda and Okoye are individuals who dislike the new technologies that Shuri introduces because they fear the damage that new technologies can bring to Wakandan society, tradition, and culture. Okoye rejects the Midnight Angel suits because she believes adopting these suits will diminish Dora Milaje culture and tradition, and Queen Ramonda dislikes AI assistants because she believes it prevents people from seeking human-interaction. Their fears play into a belief that advancements in technology leads to higher levels of ease and reliance on technology; ultimately this reliance can dissuade individuals from participating in cultural traditions [1]. Therefore, despite the increased levels of productivity these advancements provide, characters in the Black Panther universe are willing to reject these technologies to preserve their cultural standards.

While Wakanda continues to make advancements in technology through their access to vibranium, Wakanda faces pressure from foreign nations to share their resources and technologies with the rest of the world. Nations are pressing Wakanda to loosen restrictions around the distribution of vibranium to help tackle world challenges. A study conducted by the World Bank found that, when countries join the globalization effort, extreme poverty decreases as the poverty rate was cut in half from 1990 to 2015 [2]. Furthermore, 1.1 billion people have moved out of poverty and extreme poverty has decreased by 35% since 1990 [2]. By sharing their resources and technology, Wakanda has the opportunity to spread new innovation across the globe that can improve the quality of life for millions of people living in developing nations. However, questions remain over how much knowledge about vibranium should be shared as countries can exploit the free trade of vibranium to create weapons and other malicious technologies.
