Return & Silence

Today in Children’s Ministry we are learning about the Return & Silence eras in the Bible!

Ezra leads the people back from exile to rebuild Jerusalem. The Jews are conquered by the Romans and religious groups pop up and insist on rule following (legalism) for the next 400 years.

Jesus is the Word of God!

For more information about all of the eras of the Bible, we encourage adults to read the book 30 Days to Understanding the Bible by Max Anders

This Week's Family Devotional

Read About It...

Read the story of the return from exile from Ezra 1-6 or find it in your favorite story bible.

Talk About It…

Use blocks and toy people to show your child the story of the return from exile and the rebuilding of Jerusalem and the temple.  Talk about how the people were still hoping in the Redeemer to come.  Next, play the quiet game to see who can be silent the longest?  Remind your children that the Bible is silent—nothing was written for 400 years!  That’s a lot of time to wait for the Rescuer!

Pray About It…

As family, pray thanking God that He speaks to us through his word, the Bible.  Thank Him for sending his son to rescue us.

Every week of this unit, you can add an icon to a poster to show how all of the stories we learn about are part of the BIG story of the Bible.

You can print the poster and the icons from the link below to use for the whole unit.

Cut both icons for today and glue them on your poster! Read the icons you have learned about so far, today you finished the Old Testament!
