Capsule Bio:
Dr. Chih-Cheng (Iric) Huang is a multidisciplinary scientist with expertise in biomedical devices, nanomagnetism, spintronics, and in vitro diagnostics. He received the B.S. degree in materials science and engineering from National Taiwan University (NTU) in 2010, the M.S. degree in nanoengineering and microsystems from National Tsing Hua University (NTHU) in 2012, and the Ph.D. degree in materials science and engineering from the University of California – San Diego (UCSD) in 2020. Dr. Huang extensively researches cutting-edge semiconductor devices and their applications on biosensors & bioelectronics, by which precision diagnostics transforms the healthcare system from a one-size-fits-all model to a personalized framework. Since 2010, he has cross-disciplinarily drilled down to the fields such as III-V compound, high electron mobility transistors (HEMTs), magnetoresistive devices, nanomaterials, BioMEMS, biomedical signal processing, cancer diagnostics, and targeted proteomics.
Throughout his academic career, Iric proactively sought collaboration with companies in various industries. Working with Qualcomm and ITRI, he investigated feasibility of MRAM technology transfer, and the projects empowered his insight to identify R&D challenges from corporate viewpoints and market-driven decision-making. To cultivate a business mindset, he took the Micro MBA program at Rady School of Management (UCSD) and received the certificate via a wide variety of business case studies. Iric particularly focused on assessing product viability and managing the risk of product development, and he further honed these skills during his co-op at Curi Bio where he provided definitive and scalable technical solutions. In 2023, Dr. Huang started a new chapter at NTHU, where he is currently an assistant professor in Precision Medicine Program, and he looks forward to advancing and propelling biotech development in Taiwan.
