We are always looking for dedicated volunteers. Join our team to make a difference!
COUNTIES SERVED:
Kenosha
Racine
Milwaukee
Waukesha
Walworth is covered by an amazing team with Lost Dogs of Wisconsin. We have given them the reigns for there and you all helped provide donations to complete their own Missy Trap through our Giving Tuesday drive! Thank you!
WHO WE SERVE:
Dog owners, newly adopted or established dogs.
Fosters
Rescues
Animal Control - they have limited resources and we help fill in where they cannot be or with what they cannot do.
Law Enforcement - we often work with them in many different ways.
Communities - usually for dumped or dog at large issue where animal control cannot catch.
WHAT WE DO:
Lost or stolen dogs:
Guide and assist in spreading the word of the lost or stolen dog for leads. Help owner with whatever they need to accomplish this.
Educate the community in each search on how to handle, or not handle, the situation to make it safer for the pup to be recaptured safely by the owner or means of trapping.
Work with law enforcement, when possible, with leads on stolen dog situations.
Bring in drones and/or search and rescue dogs to assist in finding lost dogs, whenever possible.
Help spread awareness of the missing dog on our social media outlets.
Dogs at large:
Guide and assist in spreading the word of the lost or stolen dog for leads. Help owner with whatever they need to accomplish this.
Educate the community in each search on how to handle, or not handle, the situation to make it safer for the pup to be recaptured safely by luring or trapping.
Work with animal control to ensure we're all on the same page with where things are in the safe recapturing of the dog.
Spread awareness of the situation on our social media outlets.
FREE microchipping:
Microchip dogs in the community for free.
Register the microchip with a lifetime registration for the owner/s.
Found dogs:
Educate the public on the proper reporting of the found dog for the county the dog is found in.
Scan the dog for a microchip and try to reunite the dog sooner, without going to the shelter.
At times we help with transport of the dog to the shelter, when we have someone available to do so.
Help spread awareness of the found pup and where it is to be claimed on our social media outlets.
Angel Squad:
A small, dedicated group of volunteers who will pick up deceased dogs to take the shelter for the owner to hopefully find and claim. Shelters will hold them for five days and then cremate.
We scan the deceased dog to see if we can notify owners sooner.
Bark in the Park - our own pet festival in Racine:
We started a pet festival, the last big one of the festival season in our area. The last Saturday in September annually. See the page for details to be a vendor, sponsor, or volunteer for the festival.
Drones and Search Dogs:
We have partnerships with community pilots with drones, some with thermal capabilities, to be able to see from above. The pilots we use do not charge fees to owners. And they know how to fly for a skittish dog to not spook them into running.
We have a partnership with Southern Waukesha County Canine Search and Rescue Group out of Waukesha. They have amazing dogs that can track and confirm a location of a missing dog. Hulk has a natural capability to be able to lure out skittish dogs from hiding.
Whenever possible, our drone and search dog partners work together to be more efficient in the search effort.
With the acquisition of our own drone, coming soon, we will be able to offer a quicker response to help find a lost dog.
