Meet Girl Scout Cadette Mikaela: 

Hi! My name is Mikaela. I went to an immersion language school since I was in kindergarten called, Global Village Academy. My mom's side of the family is completely Chinese but grew up in Thailand. At GVA, I learned to be completely fluent in Chinese. This means that I could speak, write, read, and listen to this language as if I had lived in the country. These skills from school ended up being extremely helpful to me I communicating with my mom's side of the family. I have also completed the official Chinese government tests, HSK 5, this gives me the opportunity to attend a college in China with a full ride scholarship for one year. I hope you decide to take up a language as well after you explore our website. Have fun on your language journey!

Meet Girl Scout Cadette Hayden: 

Hi! My name is Hayden Horowitz. I went to Global Village Academy, a Language Immersion School for elementary school, where I learned French. Because of this, I became fluent and biliterate, meaning I can read, write, listen and speak French. I have successfully passed four levels of the French government language test, most recently the B1 level in December 2025. I have been learning French since Kindergarten (9 years!), and I’m excited to incorporate the language into my Girl Scout Silver Award project. I really enjoy sharing French with others and helping kids learn new words in a fun way.
