Kudapan Rindu Rasa (A Taste of Farewell Food) is a short film produced in 2023 with funding support from Layar Indonesiana, a program under the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia. This project was developed thru a comprehensive process, including development, production, and post-production stages.
This film had its world premiere at the Jogja NETPAC Asian Film Festival (JAFF) 2023 and was presented alongside nine other short films in the same program. The screening was an important part of the film's journey, while also opening up a space for meeting with audiences and fellow filmmakers, which brought about diverse responses and enriched the interpretation of this work.

Following its screening in Yogyakarta, Kudapan Rindu Rasa (A Taste of Farewell Food) continued its festival journey to Jakarta, where it was presented at Jakarta Film Week 2024 as part of the Layar Indonesiana program. The film was screened alongside four other selected short films within the same section.
The Jakarta screening introduced the film to audiences from diverse geographical and cultural backgrounds, fostering new perspectives and interpretations. The presentation generated varied responses and exchanges among viewers and fellow filmmakers, positioning the film as an open work that invites audiences to engage freely and interpret the emotional “taste” it offers in their own way.
Selamat Beristirahat / Happy Good Rest

Happy Good Rest (Selamat Beristirahat) began its development journey through Jogja Script Lab, a script development program supported by the Yogyakarta Special Region Cultural Office in collaboration with the Jogja Film Commission. The project was initially developed under the title Beristirahatlah Dalam Damai.
The project underwent a five-day intensive incubation process, participating in a structured bootcamp and mentorship sessions with industry professionals. Engaging with diverse perspectives particularly on cultural contexts and the politics of death significantly informed the evolution of the narrative. With its specific Catholic background, the project experienced substantial development, resulting in notable changes to both its plot and storytelling approach.
Selamat Beristirahat / Happy Good Rest

Two years later, Happy Good Rest (Selamat Beristirahat) was selected for further development and progress review through Jogja Directors Lab 2025, a program supported by the Yogyakarta Special Region Cultural Office in collaboration with the Jogja Film Commission. The project returned to the lab with a renewed focus on its directorial approach and future form of storytelling.
Working with a new group of mentors, the project gained broader perspectives on narrative delivery as well as its potential market positioning. The development process also addressed the film’s trajectory toward completion, with the project being prepared for presentation at various pitching forums to pursue additional grant funding.

Prior to entering production, selected projects in Layar Indonesiana 2023 participated in a four-day film bootcamp held in Jakarta. The program was designed to further develop the narrative, clarify creative perspectives, and identify the strongest potential approach for each project.
The bootcamp functioned as an advanced development phase, emphasizing that project selection was followed by an intensive collaborative process rather than immediate production. Through close engagement with industry practitioners and fellow filmmakers, the program ensured that each story was rigorously refined before moving into production and eventual public exhibition.
Selamat Beristirahat / Happy Good Rest

Following an extensive development process of both story and treatment, Happy Good Rest (Selamat Beristirahat) was selected as a short film pitching project at Europe on Screen 2025. The project was presented in a highly advanced and well-developed stage.
Although it did not receive a production grant, the project was highlighted by the jury for the strength of its narrative and its market potential. The project will continue its development journey and actively pursue additional funding opportunities and international support.

The journey of Happy Good Rest has been marked by fluctuations and challenges. Developed as a final project at Jogja Film Academy, the film was produced with limited financial resources. Within these constraints, the project uncovered new opportunities, particularly in terms of creative collaboration and distribution pathways.
Following the completion of production and post-production, the film entered its distribution phase. Prior to its wider release, Happy Good Rest participated in EKRAF Film Market, an initiative by the Ministry of Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia, an industry platform leading to the Asian TV Forum in Singapore. Although the project was not selected, its participation in a four-day bootcamp held in Jakarta in 2025 contributed significantly to the film’s creative maturation and market readiness, providing valuable insights into its potential positioning and market value.

Prior to entering its distribution phase, Happy Good Rest continued its efforts to secure support for wider national and international circulation. The project was presented at JAFF Market 2025 under the Sinemaku Pictures program, an initiative focused on supporting the distribution of selected short films.
Happy Good Rest was selected as one of two projects to receive distribution support through the program. This milestone marked an important step in the film’s journey, enabling it to reach new audiences across different regions and expanding its presence within the international film circuit.
