Roadway Refurbishment & Early Development Update
Big Valley Donkey Ranch is beginning its first phase of development, and the most urgent need is improving the existing access road that serves this part of the county. Before any barns, training pens, or land‑stewardship projects can begin, we need a safe, reliable way to reach the property year‑round.
We are seeking professional road construction bids for refurbishing the 5 mile stretch of County Road N5335, including:
grading
drainage improvements
stabilization
resurfacing
any additional work needed to create a durable, weather‑resistant access route
The goal is to create a road that supports RV access, ranch traffic, emergency vehicles, and future visitors — while also improving access for the families who already rely on this roadway.

Refurbishing County Road N5335 & Community Access Update
Big Valley Donkey Ranch is entering the first phase of development, beginning with the refurbishment and upgrade of County Road N5335. Before we can open the land for training, stewardship, education, or community events, the existing dirt road must be improved so it can safely support daily travel.
This project focuses on strengthening the current route—reshaping the crown, stabilizing the base, correcting drainage, and improving the surface so it can handle RV's, cars, ranch vehicles, emergency access, and future visitors. N5335 has served the area for years, but weather and seasonal wear have made it unreliable. Upgrading it now is essential for long‑term use.
This improvement will also directly benefit the families who already live along N5335. A properly refurbished road means safer travel, more dependable access during storms, and better support for emergency services. Strengthening this road isn’t just a ranch project—it’s a community investment.
We are now accepting quotes from qualified contractors for the refurbishment and upgrade of County Road N5335. We are especially interested in working with professionals who are familiar with Apache County’s approval and acceptance process, including engineering standards, inspection requirements, and the steps needed for county review.
