Behnam Hashemi

I have recently joined the School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences at the University of Leicester, Leicester, UK.

Previously, I was an Associate Professor of Mathematics at Qatar University in Doha, Qatar, and at Shiraz University of Technology in my hometown of Shiraz, Iran. From 2014 to 2017, I was a Postdoctoral Research Associate under the supervision of Professor Nick Trefethen FRS working on the Chebfun project in the Numerical Analysis Group at Oxford University Mathematical Institute. Since 2008, I have also been fortunate to work with Professor Andreas Frommer on verified numerical algorithms in the Scientific Computing Group at the University of Wuppertal, Germany.

I received my PhD and MSc in Applied Mathematics from Tehran Polytechnic in 2010 and 2006, respectively. I got my BSc in Applied Mathematics from Shiraz University in 2004.

My research interests include numerical linear and multilinear algebra, and interval arithmetic. I am particularly interested in the design and analysis of numerical algorithms for working with matrices, tensors, and tensor decompositions. Between 2014 and 2017 I developed Chebfun3, a software package written in object-oriented MATLAB for numerical computing with 3D functions defined on a box.
