$$$ HOMEWORK* (MINIMUM: 10 Minutes)
EVERY SCHOOL NIGHT, EVERY STUDENT SHOULD STUDY MATH FOR 10+ MINUTES.
Read over the work you did in class and any returned work.
Highlight, rewrite, and/or reorganize notes;
Review any errors:
Look for patterns in errors... arithmetic, formula, ATQ (answer the question)...
Rework correctly from beginning to end to pick up your pace and confidence.
Make New (and Practice All) Flashcards:
Vocabulary Terms
Formulas
Take Practice Quizzes and Tests repeatedly to increase your pace and confidence.
Not enough to think you know answer. Go back and prove it if you want an A.
Did you ATQ?
If MC: Why are the other other choices wrong?
If short answer: Can you work the problem another way and get the same result?
Know what ?s you need to ask about/ get worked for the class tomorrow.
*Students that do not use their class time well often also have to complete their practice assignments in their Worbook, check their answers, and/or finish making thier corrections at home before they can study, +20 minutes max.
If after 20 minutes of working at home a student has still not finished their Practice assignment, they should stop and plan to ask their questions and use their time better in class the following day.
Evidence of completion = on paper (in Workbook/ on folded paper + ability to explain all)
Students should then study what they do know for additional 10 minutes... or start at ground zero and get organized. At this point, parents might consider setting/ resetting expectations, rewards, and concequences. Until they value hard work themselves, students need to have a reason to work.
**Students whose skills are below grade level should also spend an additional 30 minutes on Prodigy (Diagnostic and Adaptive) via Clever (so I can support their progress) at least four times a week to bridge the gap. This is a great thing to do in Intervention and on the weekends.
ABSENCES: Students have one week to complete make-up work, quizzes, or tests for full credit.
EXTRA HELP: Email me or come see me at break. Just a few minutes can make a huge difference.
Please let me know right away if you have any questions, mboudier@eurekausd.org.
It is my honor and pleasure to serve your family,
